Software cost, from the builder's side
Buildertrend Pricing Starts With Your Volume, Not Your Crew
Buildertrend does not print a price list. Here is what its quote form asks, the one recent quote we found, the fees beside it, and how a post-frame company totals the cost.

What Buildertrend charges, as of September 2026
Buildertrend pricing is not published. As of September 2026 its pricing page shows no plans and no dollar figures. You answer a few questions about your business, then a rep walks you through a custom quote on a call. Its own FAQ says the pricing "is tailored to meet the unique needs of your business."
What Buildertrend does put in writing:
- Unlimited users and unlimited projects. The office, the reps and every crew lead can have a login without moving the price.
- 10% off when you pay annually upfront, listed as a limited-time offer.
- Annual or quarterly billing, per its own pricing comparison page.
- Included: its core tools, daily virtual trainings, a 24/7 Help Center, and integrations such as QuickBooks, Xero and Gusto.
The only recent dollar figure we could source is from Connecteam's review, updated September 2, 2026: a residential builder with 20 employees, 5 to 10 active projects and $1–5 million in annual volume was quoted $9,000 to $14,000 a year, on a one-year minimum with no setup fee. That is one company's quote, not a price list.
Older tier prices still circulate. TrustRadius still shows a plan "starting at $149", and a verified TrustRadius reviewer says that listing is out of date.
How Buildertrend pricing is set
Before it asks for your contact details, Buildertrend's quote form asks two things:
- Builder type: residential homebuilder, residential remodeler, commercial general contractor, or specialty/trade contractor. There is no post-frame option, so say plainly on the call what you build and how big.
- Average annual construction volume, in five ranges: $0–499K, $500K–4.99M, $5M–10.99M, $11M–30.99M and $31M+.
Headcount is not on the form; users are unlimited. Connecteam describes the model the same way: priced on annual construction volume, not per user.
So bring two numbers to that call, not one. Forty shops a year at $60,000 each is $2.4 million. So is eight $300,000 custom homes. Both land in the same range, but the shop builder runs forty sets of deposits, permits and draws through the software. Volume sets the quote; job count sets the workload.
The costs that sit beside the subscription
Support and onboarding
Buildertrend's pricing comparison page lists support and onboarding as "Included and upgrades available", and its pricing page lists services from setup and data migration to onsite consulting. Connecteam's reviewer was told a support tier was required on top: Tier 1 at $100 a month or Tier 2 at $300 a month, which adds one-on-one training and a dedicated account manager. Ask which applies to you, and get it in the quote.
Taking payments
Buildertrend Payments has no monthly fee. Its Payments FAQ lists 2.99% on client credit cards, a $15 flat fee on client ACH, and $1 per ACH transfer or $2 per mailed check when you pay subs and suppliers. Card fees can be passed to clients where the law allows; outbound fees are always yours. Payments is marked US only.
The line a post-frame builder should read twice: client payments are limited to $120,000 per transaction, and the FAQ gives $120,000 a month as well, with your actual limit confirmed during underwriting. Three customers each paying a $45,000 framing draw in the same May is $135,000. If you reach the monthly limit, the FAQ says online payment is switched off on the invoices you release. Ask what limit you would be approved for.
The tools you keep
Price what stays beside any platform: the tool that designs and takes off the building, your phones, and the accounting file. Buildertrend lists QuickBooks, Xero and Gusto integrations. If you design and price in SmartBuild, keep that subscription in the total and ask how its jobs and prices reach the new system without retyping.
Total the real cost before you sign
Run this on any construction software quote, ours included. It takes one evening and one real job.
Put last year on paper
Buildings sold, average contract, and your busiest month of deposits and draws. Those numbers set the quote and the payment limits you need.
Get the subscription terms in writing
Billing term, prepay discount, minimum term, and how renewal pricing is set. The first-year number is not the only number.
Name the support tier
What is included, what costs extra, and when onboarding happens. Onboarding in April lands on the weeks your crews are setting posts.
Price payments at your job size
Deposit, framing draw, final. At 2.99%, a $30,000 card deposit costs $897. Decide whether you absorb it, pass it on, or steer customers to ACH.
Count who needs access
Office, reps, project managers, crew leads, subs, the customer. On Buildertrend extra logins cost nothing more. Elsewhere, check who needs a paid seat and who can work from a link.
The draws are where the fees get decided
Card fees and payment limits apply per payment, so the cost of getting paid is decided by the schedule you agree before anyone signs. In Leads2Build that schedule sits on the estimate your customer approves: named stages such as down, delivery, frame complete and final, each with its percentage and dollar value, and a header confirming they total 100%.
Each stage later becomes its own draft invoice, so you can agree up front how the big payments will be made.

How Leads2Build prices
Leads2Build is a per-company subscription, with texts, calls and email metered by use and itemised. We are onboarding founding builders company by company, so the numbers are set on a call. The advice above applies to us too: get it in writing.
- Crew, for an owner and a small office: the sales pipeline, operating checklists and tasks, SmartBuild estimates with customer approval, contracts and e-signatures, and a branded client portal.
- Company, for a sales team and crews: everything in Crew, plus invoicing with two-way QuickBooks, material ordering, project management with crews and change orders, lead distribution, and your own phone numbers.
- Founding Builder: everything in Company, with white-glove onboarding and data import, and founding-builder pricing locked in.
Our pricing page puts the test plainly: if the math doesn't beat one saved deal a year, don't buy it.

Questions builders ask
How much does Buildertrend really cost?
Buildertrend does not publish prices. As of September 2026 every price is a custom quote based on your builder type and annual construction volume. The most recent sourced figure: Connecteam reported a quote of $9,000 to $14,000 a year for a 20-employee residential builder doing $1–5 million, on a one-year minimum.
Does Buildertrend charge per user?
No. Buildertrend's pricing page states that unlimited users and unlimited projects are included, so adding a project manager or crew lead does not raise the subscription, a genuine advantage for a large team. What does change the cost is your volume range, payment processing, and any paid support tier or services.
Does Buildertrend have a free trial?
Not as of September 2026. TrustRadius lists no free version or trial, and Connecteam reports the same, with an on-demand video or a scheduled demo instead. Bring one of your own jobs to the demo, a recent shop with its deposit and draws, and ask to see it run end to end.
What are Buildertrend's payment processing fees?
Buildertrend's Payments FAQ lists 2.99% on client credit cards, a $15 flat fee on client ACH, and $1 per ACH transfer or $2 per mailed check to subs and suppliers, with no monthly fee. Client payments are limited to $120,000 per transaction, and Payments is US only.
Is Buildertrend worth it for a post-frame builder?
It depends on what you need it to carry. Buildertrend says it is built for builders who oversee five or more projects a year, and reviewers credit its training, support and client portal. A post-frame company should also price how each building gets designed and taken off, and whether those numbers reach the invoice without retyping.
How long does it take to get set up on Buildertrend?
Buildertrend says most builders can begin within a few days, with setup and data migration among its services. Starting is not the same as moving your leads, templates and open jobs over, so ask what migration includes and schedule it outside your busiest building months.
